Church of The Misfits

23 Oct

I attend the church of the misfits

The prodigal sons returned,

The church of the rejected,

Divorced, addicted, and the spurned.

In the pews beside me are sinners,

Behind were previously interred,

We seek not the church of the perfect,

But the church where our sins are deferred.

Beware those who expect perfection,

We’re the kind who admits we’ve sinned,

And embrace the fact that God loves us,

All our debts He will rescind.

I attend the church of the misfits,

The prodigal sons returned,

The church of the Father’s banquet,

Extravagant love unearned.
